Mick Gooda, the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Social Justice Commissioner, is here presenting the Australian Human Rights Commission Business Award, to the CEO of Freedom Housing Pty Ltd, Christos Iliopoulos, at a ceremony held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney on Tuesday 10 December 2013.

Receiving the Australian Human Rights Commission Business Award capped off a year of steady progress for Freedom Housing Pty Ltd. We were very humbled to receive the Award.

Over the course of the year we presented the concept to many in the disability sector, as well as to those in government, and in business.

This Award recognises that Freedom Housing aims to comply with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It also complies with the NDIS Act 2013 (Australian Federal Parliament).

Christos met with Mick Gooda and Susan Ryan after the award presentation. Mick expressed interest in Freedom Housing for remote indigenous communities. He will be meeting with Christos soon to discuss this.

Susan Ryan has invited Christos to Sydney to meet with her and other members of the Commission for further talks about the applications of Freedom Housing.
